Welcome to Block//45, a show dedicated to exploring the latest developments in the Cardano ecosystem. In this episode, hosted by Wendy O and Crypto Crow, we sit down with Nate Strang, Lace's product manager, to dive into upcoming wallet features and the intersection of AI and Web3.
Key points
- Addressing Lace v2 Issues: The team discussed the performance and stability issues following the massive v2 overhaul. A new v2.1 update is rolling out immediately to resolve hanging transactions, DApp connection issues, and general application stability.
- Introducing Lace Carbon: Launching as an optional, opt-in experience, Carbon features a modernized user interface with a completely new look and feel.
- Security-First Onboarding: Carbon introduces a security-minded approach to progressive onboarding. This includes eliminating the ability to copy recovery phrases to clipboards and guiding new users sequentially rather than overwhelming them with options.
- DeFi Integration (Pogun & RealFi): Lace is prioritizing simplicity to breathe life into Cardano's DeFi ecosystem. Users will be able to access the truly peer-to-peer Pogun credit market to borrow and lend safely without price volatility risks.
- The "Carry Trade" Strategy: Nate details how users will soon be able to execute a carry trade directly within Lace. This lets you use ADA as collateral (while still earning staking rewards) to borrow a stablecoin, which can then be staked in RealFi to earn a second yield via USDR. The long-term goal is to allow automated loan payments directly through these yields.
- AI & Agentic Trading Philosophy: While agentic trading and AI are massive trends, the team is choosing to be the "first improver" rather than the "first mover" to avoid costly mistakes and prioritize opsec.
- Lace Beta Program: To build more proactively with the community, Lace is rolling out a beta program, focus groups, and targeted surveys to gather feedback before features are finalized.
