Daedalus moves to specialist hands

KEY POINTS

  • Daedalus, Cardano's full-node wallet, is moving to Se7en Labs, the team that built and scaled DripDropz, under a structured specialist ownership model: the same decentralization framework now extending across Cardano's entire builder ecosystem.
  • Se7en Labs, composed of the team that established DripDropz, brings a proven track record inside the Cardano community plus deep ecosystem relationships and the focused capacity Daedalus needs to reach its next stage.
  • This is decentralization made real: not just how Cardano runs, but who builds it.

Cardano decentralization has always meant more than the protocol. From the beginning, the goal was a network that no single organization could control, slow, or steer alone. That principle now extends to who builds the stack.

Daedalus, Cardano's full-node wallet, is moving to Se7en Labs, the team behind DripDropz, under a structured specialist ownership model. It is the same approach IOG is applying across the Cardano development ecosystem: focused teams, defined accountability.

Why Se7en Labs

Se7en Labs is not new to Cardano. As the team behind DripDropz, they built and scaled the ecosystem's most trusted token distribution platform, earned the community's confidence through consistent delivery, and developed deep relationships across the developer and staking community over years of direct work on the chain.

That track record matters. Specialist ownership is only an upgrade when the specialist is genuinely qualified. Se7en Labs brings Cardano-native context, operational credibility, and a focused team whose attention can go to what Daedalus needs to become.

What this means for Daedalus users

The wallet you use does not change. Addresses, staking, and transaction history are entirely unaffected. What changes is who owns the development roadmap and who is accountable for delivering on it.

A team with deep Cardano roots and a single clear mandate will drive Daedalus forward. That is a sharper ownership model than any generalist structure can provide, and it is designed to unlock more capability, not less.

The wider picture

Daedalus is one part of a broader organizational evolution. IOG is concentrating on high-value protocol innovation and next-generation research, while proven specialist partners take focused ownership of the layers where they are best placed to deliver. VacuumLabs leads on Plutus. Ensurable Systems leads on the Haskell node. Se7en Labs leads on Daedalus. The High Assurance Consortium brings six organizations to security-critical infrastructure, each owning a defined work package.

This specialist ownership model is reflected in the Daedalus Wallet Maintenance and Improvements proposal, which DReps can review on the Intersect voting platform.

The result is a development model that is more capable, more accountable, and more genuinely decentralized than a single-organization approach could ever be.

Cardano has always been built for the long run. Specialist ownership is how that commitment gets delivered.

What happens next

Se7en Labs will share its roadmap and priorities for Daedalus. IOG will continue to contribute at the protocol level and amplify partner delivery as it happens.

The story from here is the delivery. Watch what ships.
